The Certified medical exercise specialist will monitor your blood sugars with a glucometer or through your insulin pump. The Medical Exercise Specialist may have you eat 15 grams of fast acting carbohydrate during your workout to stabilize blood sugars. Your blood pressures will also be monitored and you will be asked to change shoes half way through your workout. Often diabetics are at high risk for foot ulceration from restrictive footwear. Changing foot wear prevents diabetic ulcers of the feet.
